T20 World Cup is going to happen in UAE and Oman

Due to the chances of Covid striking back, BCCI changed its decision to host the T20 World Cup in India. Now the tournament will take place in locations like UAE and Oman still hosted by BCCI. The month of October and November has been finalized for the championship. BCCI has decided to work with ICC to determine and confirm the schedule of the event.

The decision is primarily based on the cancellation of the IPL. Last year IPL had to be halted in between due to a sudden surge in cases of Covid19 in India. It is noteworthy that the second wave hit India during the IPL. It can be said that the large mobs of people led to an increase in Covid cases.

Thus, this decision by the BCCI is in support of the country. Although we are recovering from Coronavirus, India is yet to be vaccinated fully and we have not achieved vaccination of even half of our population. According to the experts, the third wave is looming over our heads and it is best to not provide it with any kind of advantage.

Before players start for T20 they would be provided a proper rest of two weeks, then they would head to designated locations. The BCCI even decided to play the final of IPL in early October so the players can take a break before October 17. They can even play the final on the 10th of October, a Sunday when surplus eyeballs can follow the screens.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that dates have not been finalized yet but the qualifier matches would be played in Oman. Due to the qualifier matches, Indian teams can get at least 14 days before they hit the pitch for T20. The final T20 event is tentatively scheduled for 14 November.
