Mithali Raj made a world record, do you know what it is?

Mithali Raj who is leading the Indian cricket team in England against the host for the three-match series ODI has set a world record. And above all the records she holds it is most worthwhile. The Indian skipper became one of the players who retain the longest career in cricket history.

Mithali Raj

Raj who attained the achievement comes from Hyderabad, a rather simple city in Uttar Pradesh. She is not only the first woman to achieve the record but also the second Indian cricketer who made her way through.

Other than Mithali only Sachin Tendulkar has been able to set a career of over 22 years in Indian cricket history. Still best in what she does, the present captain has played 215 matches in 22 years and 91 days.

The cricket idol, Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar had set the record of 463 matches in 22 years and 91 days. Apart from having the longest career, Mithali has been titled for scoring the most number of runs in International cricket.

Having such big titles for her name we can surely say that Mithali is acting as an inspiration and motivation for young players who want to join the Indian cricket team. Although we lost the WTC finals last week, this week brought two good news for cricket.

The first one Mithali completing her 22 years plus in cricket and the other Shafali Verma joining the cricket team for ODIs. Verma, who is already the youngest Indian player playing T20s and Tests, became the youngest ODI player in India.

Hence becoming the youngest Indian player who is playing all three formats in only 17 years. Yet again another player who has come closer to Verma’s record is Indian cricket poster boy Sachin Tendulkar.
